In an interview with internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Judy Carmichael, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Joey Harrington discusses the important role jazz has played in his sports and musical life. He also speaks about encouraging children (often against the pressure of their peers) to continue their piano pursuits, as well as their athletic endeavors.
This year the Harrington Family Foundation will be participating in the Atlanta Falcons Extra Yard Partnership program. Joey and his foundation have purchased 20 tickets to each of the Falcons home games during the 2007 season. This will be an opportunity for students from local Atlanta schools and organizations who would not typically have an opportunity to attend a Falcons football game to be guests of the team. Each guest will receive a game day ticket, a T-shirt, and sit in a special section designated as Joey's Huddle. Joey and the HFF participated in a similar program in Detroit and Miami and are pleased to be offered the same opportunity in Atlanta.

Joey Renews His Challenge For Kids
(Press Release From Boys and Girls Clubs of Portland, Oregon.)
Hometown hero Joey Harrington, now the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, has once again challenged local business leaders to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland. Over the past three years, the Joey Harrington Challenge for Kids has raised nearly $200,000 for the Boys & Girls Club's endowment fund. This year promises to raise more money than ever, as Joey recently pledged a donation for every touchdown that he – or any other Atlanta quarterback – makes during the upcoming NFL season. HFF joins Circle of Hearts Club
The Harrington Family Foundation recently joined the Circle of Hearts Club of annual donors to the Providence Child Center Foundation in Portland, Oregon. Providence Child Center Foundation helps bridge the gap between the real costs of pediatric long-term care and the portion of the costs paid by Medicaid. Families are never burdened with having to seek outside funds to support their children with special needs, but they can instead simply be there as a family.
Providence Child Center and the Center for Medically Fragile Children provide a rich continuum of services for children including skilled nursing care, a Montessori School, a child development program, and comprehensive neuro-developmental evaluation and treatment services. The Providence Child Center is also home to the Jean Baton Swindells Resource Center for Children and Families, which provides assistance, information, resources and education on a variety of disability-related subjects to families, caregivers and friends of children with special needs.
