The Second Annual Harrington Family Foundation Benefit Concert presented by Key Bank rocks Portland's Pioneer Square and raises $30,000 for Charity!
On one of the most perfect summer nights we've seen this year, Detroit Lions Quarterback and former Oregon Duck Joey Harrington presided over the Harrington Family Foundation's highly successful outdoor concert, which was attended on July 1, 2004 by nearly two thousand enthusiastic fans. Produced by TAOW Productions, the event resulted in a $30,000 donation to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, one of the primary regional charities the Harrington Family Foundation supports.
Respectfully avoiding the spotlight, Harrington deftly jammed on piano during performances by Pat McGee Band and multi-platinum headliners Third Eye Blind. Fans said he turned in an impressive performance on the keys, while encouraging the audience to support the Foundation and the charities it assists. One attendee said "Joey's become such a well rounded guy he plays hard, both on the field and on the stage, and he cares deeply about kids and the local community, we're just glad to be able to help him in this great cause!" The event was taped by NFL Films, ESPN, The CBS Morning Show and was well attended and supported by local media.
Youngsters from Shriners Hospital and the audience joined Harrington and opener Pat McGee on stage for one song, adding to the family oriented nature of the evening. In connection with the event, TAOW also managed a fund-raising golf tournament and auction at Pumpkin Ridge, sponsored by West Coast Bank and a pre-concert reception and silent auction hosted by McCormick & Schmicks Seafood Restaurant. The auctions featured items autographed and donated personally by Harrington.
Said Harrington "At the end of the day, what matters most is attaining results. With the help of the sponsors and community, we were able to make a substantial contribution to the Shriners Hospital in support of the exceptional service they provide to kids with special needs. We also want to thank all of the people who helped bring this wonderful event together, including all the volunteers from the Shriners, Key Bank and Nike."

Joey Harrington Helps Kick Off Celebration of UO School of Music Building Initiative
Imagine walking into the still sparkling new "Club" level at Autzen Stadium and finding yourself in an evening jazz club with beaded table lamps on zebra-print tablecloths, hosting nearly 200 concert attendees. On June 11, 2004 this is precisely the transformation that donors and friends of the School of Music and the University of Oregon experienced to celebrate the kickoff of the school's building renovation and expansion initiative.
Jazz pianist Joey Harrington '01, a UO business graduate and current Detroit Lions quarterback, and Richard Smith '83, School of Music Distinguished Alumnus and USC jazz guitar professor, performed with the Oregon Jazz Ensemble to electrify the crowd of supporters during the evening's concert.
Harrington noted that one of the bonuses about his decision to attend the University of Oregon was the School of Music's jazz studies program and the opportunity to study with jazz pianist Gary Versace—while still playing football and pursuing a business degree.
"I think that music is an important part of everyone's lives,"
said Harrington. "The UO School of Music does a great job of providing that experience for students. Even though I wasn't a music major, they allowed me the opportunity to take classes and lessons. The School of Music offers something for every student. They are very open and welcoming."
Thoughtful gifts from alumni and friends of the School of Music are creating a legacy that will transform the lives of scores of future generations of students, performers, and music educators. To date, $2.5 million, or one-third of the funds required from private sources, has been raised for the building project, with the impact of every gift doubled due to legislative bonding from the State of Oregon for a one-to-one match of $7.6 million for the building expansion.

Issue #7: The Second Annual Harrington Family Foundation Benefit Concert presented by KeyBankkicks off July 1, 2004 with headliner Third Eye Blind
Following last year's highly successful inaugural charity event, Joey Harrington and the Harrington Family Foundation will host their second annual benefit concert on Thursday, July 1, 2004 in Portland, Oregon featuring contemporary musicians, Third Eye Blind.
This much anticipated event is set for the intimate outdoor locale of Pioneer Courthouse Square, in the heart of the city's thriving downtown. Produced by Portland-based TAOW Productions, the rain or shine event, will benefit Shriners Hospital for Children, Portland and the Harrington Family Foundation.
Third Eye Blind's multi-platinum smash hits "Semi-Charmed Life," "Deep Inside of You," and "How's It Going To Be" have garnered critical and commercial acclaim. Having toured with acts such as U2 and the Rolling Stones, Third Eye Blind has built a loyal fan base worldwide. As a special treat, Joey on piano will jam along side the band during this unique benefit performance.
"This is a tremendous opportunity to play with some terrific artists, while also giving back to the community that has been so supportive of me and my family," says Harrington, former Oregon Duck quarterback. "The success of last year's event exceeded our projected revenue goals by raising over $30,000 for Shriners Hospital. For 2004, we have set our sights higher and we really need your support to help make this year's event an even greater success!"
Sponsored in part by KeyBank, KINK 102 fm, Nike Inc., University of Oregon Boosters and the Detroit Lions, 100% of the proceeds from the concert will go to benefit children's charities.
Known as "Portland's Living Room", Pioneer Courthouse Square is located at SW Broadway & Yamhill. Doors open at 6pm and the concert starts at 7pm. Due to limited seating and last year's sell-out crowd, advance tickets are highly recommended. Tickets are $32.50 advance, $35 day of show and go on sale May 15, 2004, at Tickets West outlets, on the web at www.ticketswest.com, or by phone at 800-992-8499 or 800-325-7328.

AN EVENING OF JAZZ to launch the University of Oregon School of Music building campaign.
Joey Harrington, Detroit Lions QB and pianist, will perform with the Oregon Jazz Ensemble to launch the University of Oregon School of Music $15.2 million building renovation and expansion campaign. Other notable alumni at this elegant evening concert will include dance performer and choreographer, Barry McNabb (1981) and award winning jazz guitarist, Richard Smith (1983). McNabb and Smith will each receive the 2004 School of Music Distinguished Alumnus award and Smith will also perform with the Oregon Jazz Ensemble during the evening concert. The dinner concert will be held June 11, 2004 at the Club Room at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.
The Oregon Legislature has approved bonding for half of the project, requiring the remaining $7.6 million to be raised from private sources. UO President Dave Frohnmayer has named the project as one of three capital priorities on campus as part of the University-wide fundraising campaign. To date, $2.35 million has been raised
from private sources, and the top seven donors to the building campaign thus far will be honored at the dinner concert.
"Circle 3 Benefactor" tickets are $125 per person and include entry to a private reception, photos with Dave Frohnmayer and Joey Harrington and priority seating for the dinner and concert. "Circle 3 Patron" tickets are $75 per person and include entry to a cocktail reception and the dinner and concert.
