Q) Joey, excellent game tonight. You have my total admiration and I am rooting for you to do well. I have believed in you since your Oregon days and as a fellow Oregonian I can only say that it is nice to see a former Duck in the NFL. You represent Oregon well! My question to you is this, which offensive system do you excel most in? GO DUCKS!!!
--Matthew Randquist - Colorado Springs, AK
A) So far I really like what Coach Petrino has us doing. I have flexibility at the line of scrimmage to make adjustments which hasn't always been the case in the past.
Q) Good game tonight Joey! I have a lot of confindence in you and the Falcons, you guys will prove any doubters wrong.
--Jimmy Kemp - Royal Oak, MI
A) That's our plan! Thanks for the note.
Q) Mr. Joey Harrington,
My Name is Mike P. from South Texas and I am watching you play as I type. I am a huge football fan and I love my Cowboys. I am tired of all the scrutiny that they put under you for not winning enough games. They forget you were once known as Joey Heisman and I loved the rumor that Dallas was pursuing you last year. Good luck Joey in this season and I hope you have the success you deserve. Thanks for being classy. You know a 22-43 record can be turned around in a few seasons and remember you were a Detriot Lion. I know you were surrounded atheletes better than me, but they are still the Lions. Falcons have alot of talent and seeing that you hit Adam Jennings on stride for a TD, you still have Crumpler, Jenkins and Horn. This is you chance to prove everyone wrong and I hope you do so. God bless you.
Mike and Vanessa P
--Michael Peralez - Kingsville, TX
A) Thanks for the email. I had a QB coach who I respect very much, Jason Garret, now in Dallas as your offensive coordinator. He will do very well and I wish you a good season - unless we play the Cowboys.
Q) Hey, I just actually moved from the hollywood district right next to laurelhurst in portland to atlanta about a year ago. Im pretty sure I went to some of the same schools to. Laurelhurst elementry? Fernwood middle school?
any way, I just thought it was really cool being to say that I went to the same schools as a starting falcon.
--Jesse Miller - Decatur, GA
A) Well, you are right. We both grew up pretty close to each other. I took jazz band classes at Fernwood MS from 6-8th grades but went to All Saints during those years.
Q) Joey,
No Question. I just wanted to welcome you to Atlanta and let you know that we are happy to have you. I have been a lifelong Falcons Fan as my family has had season tickets since the mid 80's. I've followed your career through college and can see your talent through the trials you have gone through. Even though it is small in the big picture, I think sports can have a huge effect on a town/community/nation. Obviously Atlanta is going through a tough time and we couldn't ask for a better person to lead our organization through this dark period. As I said before I admire your skills as a player, but what will make me root for your success is who you are as a person. As an FSU alum, Warrick Dunn is obviously my favorite player, but I can't tell you how happy I am to have yet another person on this team who I can admire on and off the football field.
Thank you and good luck.
Chris
--Chris Ashley - Atlanta, GA
A) Thanks for the encouragement, Chris. I have received a lot of support from people in the Atlanta area and many emails of support on this website. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to respond like I wish I could on this website due to training camp for the past three weeks. Hopefully, it will get better now that we are done with two-a-days. This is a difficult time for our team. You don't expect something like this to happen when you are preparing for a new season. Everyone feels badly about where Michael finds himself right now but since we are professionals, we have to move ahead as a team. Coach Petrino has done a great job of keeping our attention on the upcoming season. I am very comfortable with my teammates and the people of Atlanta I have met so far. Certainly I am aware of the spotlight I find myself in and how important it is to be a role model for kids, someone who represents the Falcons well in the community and, hopefully, a QB who the fans will appreciate this season.
Q) Hello Joey! I am Oregon born and raised and followed your career with the Ducks. I have always been a Falcons fan as one side of my family is from GA so imagine my excitement when you signed with the Falcons! I am a United States Marine currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and will be following this year's season as closely as I can.
Anyways, my question is: Do you think the way the offense is going to be ran will better suit your playing style, and what personal goals have you set for your first season at the Falcons?
Thank you for your time!
--Joe Blount - Langlois, OR
A) I appreciate your writing all the way from Japan and I hope you are able to follow the Falcons as best you can this year. I am really excited about this year's team and Coach Petrino's offense. There are some very good receivers here who are working hard for this season. Probably the best toal group I certainly have played with so far. It was fun to get a chance to throw to some of them Friday night in our first game against the Jets. I really enjoy them! My goal is to play on a winning Falcon team that sets the stage this season for consistent success in the years to come. All the best Joe -
Q) Just wanted to wish you the best of luck in Atlanta. I'm a Lions fan who hopes you tear it up in Atlanta. Best of luck and great foundation.
--tony breza - sanford, MI
A) Thanks for writing Tony. I am looking forward to this season.
Q) I just read your press release for the Boys and Girls Club Challenge. How fantastic.
I recently was helping a friend out and taking her kids to the local Boys and Girls Club around where I live. They offer a daycare type program for families that dont have a lot of money. My heart was broken while looking around the old run down building and equipment. I wish some local businesses here would step up and do the same for these kids who deserve much better.
A real eye opener for this very blessed, stay at home mom.
--Kelly Jerlecki - Rio Rancho, NM
A) It's been a very positive experience working with the local Boys and Girls Club in Portland for the past four years. We have raised over $200,000 dollars that goes to help kids who haven't always had the best breaks in their young lives. I am happy to be involved in a good cause.
Q) Hey Joey,
Not so much a question, but more of a statement. My (now) wife and I met our freshman year at U of O, your senior year. We now live in Bend, and have loved watching you play since the first live snap we saw together. We'd like to wish you the best of luck this year in Atlanta; we'll be cheering every play! God Bless.
Mr. and Mrs. Whitney
--Kirk Whitney - Bend, OR
A) Bend is a great place to live and my family has been coming to that area to vacation for years. Best of luck to you both this year. Thanks.
Q) Hey Joey, i've been a big fan of yours ever since i saw your play when you were at Oregon, and have followed your NFL career as well. I was wondering if there was anyway that your Atlanta jersey is availible, because i have wanted to get one of your jerseys for awhile, but i was iffy on getting one with all the talks about you when you were at Detroit and Miami. If you could please let me know if there was anyway to get one, and good luck on your season in Atlanta.
--Ryan Wood - Stillwater, MN
A) Atlanta jerseys have been ordered for the website and should be in by the end of August. Other items are coming in as well. Check the website store for updated information. You may be able to order ahead.
