Q) Joey, Now that you live in Detroit, will your foundation be doing some things in Michigan?

--Marci Gold - Bloomfield Hills, MI
A) Yes, the Harrington Family Foundation has begun to make connections in Michigan. We have recently made donations to a number of schools around Detroit. Please check out the most recent Foundation Update on our website. We are looking forward to bigger and better opportunities to benefit the community in the near future.
Q) Hey Joey, I'm really glad you're playing for the Lions. We really need a young QB who has talent and you are the perfect person for the job!! I was wondering, since you are related to PGA golfer Padraig Harrington, are you yourself a golfer? And if so, what's your handicap? and what's your favorite course to play? If you're up for a vacation in Michigan and want to play some golf, Treetops Resort in Gaylord is a wonderful place to play.

--Melissa Gordon - Saline, AK
A) Yes, I am a golfer however, like the majority of players in this world, I don't always play as well as I would like. This summer I actually had a chance to play a lot of golf and dropped my handicap down to about 8-10. I don't know why but I have never established an official one. I really don't have a favorite course. There are tons of great ones out there.
Q) JOEY, WHAT WAS WAS THE NAME OF THE SONG YOU PLAYED AT HALFTIME ON MONDAY FOOTBALL WITH JASON MRAZ AND JOHN POPPER? YOU SOUNDED GREAT ! WOW, WHAT A TALENT!

--JAY GARNER - SPARTANBURG, SC
A) The name of the song was Felicia. It was one of the songs I played with Blues Traveler on the night of my family's foundation charity concert. If everything continues to go well the next song will be one from Jason Mraz. I think the finals (assuming I make it there) will be one with all of us. Blues Traveler and Jason Mraz were absolutely incredible. They both took time out of their busy schedules to come and play for a great cause. If you have a chance, you should check them out. I know Blues Traveler just released a new album and Jason is touring right now.
Q) Hey Joey, I am just wondering what your motives were behind setting up the Harrington Family Foundation? Right now I am a student teacher and I believe that all students have the right to a quality education, where they can experience some type of success everyday, whether that be on a large or small scale. When I heard about the Harrington Family Foundation I was in awe that a professional sports figure would set up a foundation like this, many times people forget the today's children will be our future. It is so important for these children to have a positive role model, like yourself, to look up to. You truly are to be commended for your work with children!

--Niki Disterhaft - Princeton, WI
A) I feel blessed in so many areas of my life. Creating a foundation was a perfect chance to give back to the community which has been so supportive of me. Our foundation will serve charities and other non-profits dedicated to children's health, education, and safety.
Q) Joey, I saw you perform on the halftime show for Monday Night's football game..Chicago vs. Green Bay. I just wanted to say how impressed I was at the incredible talent you possess. It is so important for young people to have such a role model in two areas that often conflict...music and sports. Thank your family for the great job they are doing through the foundation....we need more caring individuals like you.

--Kathleen Cirese - Clarendon Hills, IL
A) Thank you very much. I think it is very important for kids to be active in as many different areas of life as they can be. Music and sports just happened to be my favorites and I'm proud to be a role model for kids who would like to do the same. However, I need to give the majority of the credit to my mom. She is the one who pushed me through piano lessons whenever I felt like I didn't have enough time. I am eternally grateful to her for that.
Q) I've watched your younger brother, Michael, as a first-time starter for Idaho this year. Do the ups and downs you experienced last year allow you to reassure him when the Vandals struggle (he certainly doesn't seem to lack enthusiasm)?

--Corey Roberts - Eugene, OR
A) Mike and I are experiencing very similar situations right now. Neither of us have ever been a part of a team that has lost as much as our teams have over the past two years so we have been able to share thoughts and keep each other motivated. Mike is a terrific quarterback and a great leader and I know he will pull himself and his team through their struggles.
Q) Joey, from watching the FOX NFL PRE-GAME SHOW, I understand that you had a heart valve problem. And that it was corrected by some type of laser surgery. Was this some type of Micro-valve prolaspe ? Thanks for your time and good luck through your season.

--Warren Leary - Medford, NJ
A) Actually, what I had was called supra ventricular tachycardia, otherwise known as a rapid heart rate. I was out on the field and I felt my heart beating through my chest. When I got to the sideline I couldn't seem to catch my breath so the doctors took me in to check it out. What they found was a problem that is actually very common and very simple to correct. The procedure was called a catheter ablation and they just "zapped" the part of my heart that was misfiring. It was a very simple procedure with an extremely quick recovery and I haven't had a problem with it since.
Q) Joey, Not a question... Great game last week against AZ. The Lions are looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing you play in Chicago on 10/26. I haven't seen you play since we stomped the Buffs at the Fiesta Bowl. Good luck this season

--Reed Heiligman - Chicago, IL
A) Thanks for the encouragement and support. I realize there was no question but I had to post it because everyone likes to remember how we stomped the Buffs. Go Ducks!
Q) Hi Joey, I am a high school teacher and I recently started a running club at the school (The Wildcat Running Club). I am working hard to get the students excited about exercising and being health conscience. I am also trying to get more students to join our club. I was wondering if you would be able to write them a note of encouragement. Encouraging words from Joey Harrington will mean so much more to them than the "good jobs" I give them all of the time! Thank you very much for your time and good luck with your season!

--Jesse Dornan - Cincinnati, OH
A) Absolutely. Exercise should be a part of every person's life. It is very important to maintain some level of physical fitness at all times. Even on days when I'm not on the practice field I like to participate in some sort of physical activity. Exercise not only keeps me in good shape but I also feel it gives me more energy and keeps me in good spirits, not to mention keeps me out of the doctor's office! Everyone in the Wildcat Running Club should feel very proud because you are not only doing yourself a great service, but you are providing a terrific example for everyone around you. Keep up the good work.
Q) Great game last week Joey! Have you kept in touch with Eagles QB A.J. Feeley who played QB at Oregon with you?

--Jeff Smith - Yardley, PA
A) I actually talked to A.J. last week. He and I talk on a pretty regular basis. Which reminds me I need to call him and find out what he knows about Al Harris. Al used to play with A.J. in Philly and is now in Green Bay. Thanks.
