Q) Hey Joey, I just wanted to wish you luck this season, everyone knows this will be your year. I also saw that so far through the preseason games you have the best qb rating...congrats and keep up the hard work, it will pay off!!
--mike crabtree - morgantown, AK
A) So far I feel pretty good about the way I have played in the preseason. A good QB rating is nice but I would trade it for a good season for the Lions. Thanks for the words of encouragement. We are looking forward to a great season.
Q) Joey, I grew up in Michigan, but am now living in Virginia. I will be getting Direct TV just to watch the Lions all year. Just wanted to say that we believe in you, man.
--Omar Ahmad - Roanoke, VA
A) Thanks for the support. We hope to give you something worth watching this year.
Q) great job saturday! you are really looking like the 3rd pick in the draft! sorry, i have been writing you alot lately! but, i want you to know that there are people here in detroit that really do support you and want you to win! and i have a life. im at work as i type. just love the lions and the great talent on this team. its gonna be a good year!
--mikey simonie - garden city, MI
A) Thanks for writing in, Mikey. I don't have a lot of time to respond to all the emails that I receive on this website but I appreciate your support and the support of many others who have been so positive.
Q) As a jamaican who became interested in football due to Barry, when he left there was a void but since you were drafted I have been very impressed with your poise and demeanor as well as your unflapable belief in yourself. I actually use you no matter what team I use in Madden and I consider you to be one of the better role models in sports. ALl the best to you and the lions for this season and let's see the team we all want take us as far as you can. I will be able to see the superbowl if no other game this year I would love to watch my favorite player live that day.
--Vince Clennon - Kingston, AK
A) Thanks, Vince, for the nice words. We are going to do everything possible to make this a great year for the Lions.
Q) No need to reply, I just wanted to remind you that 99% of the Lion faithful are behind you. Dont let the 500 people who do not understand the game get you down. Good luck this year. Time to kick a little...
--Shawn Beatty - Orland PK, IL
A) I realize that being a quarterback, especially in the NFL, sometimes brings too much praise when we win and too much criticism when we lose. That's just the way it goes. I appreciate your support and the many others who have written in to the website.
Q) 9 for 9 with 100 yards passing in the preseason opener! Absolutely fabulous! Is there something different in the offense this year than in years past? Keep up the good work Joey!
--Jeremy Ratajczyk - Griffith, IN
A) It's basiscally the same offense. We just have more play makers on the field now. If we can stay together without injuries it will be fun to see what can happen this year.
Q) Joey,
Being one of the Lions' biggest fans, I just moved to Omaha, NE from Michigan for grad school for Athletic Training and let me tell you, it wasn't easy to find a place with the game on last night but the Buffalo Wild Wings out here found it and made my night by getting to watch the game. Just want to compliment both you and the Lions' offense for a strong performance against the Jets last night. I have my faith in you and the Lions that this could defientely be the "turn around year." Even here in Omaha, we're still rooting for you! Good luck with the season. :o)
~Michelle Zammit, Omaha, NE
--Michelle Zammit - Auburn Hills, MI
A) Thanks for the support. Maybe you can convert some Huskers fans to also be Lions fans this fall.
Q) Joey, As a Lions fan, I was very disapointed in the classless fans that booed you during the open practice last saturday. Keep your head up! I know that you are unflapable! I will watch the boo's turn to cheers this year! It may seem that the fans are against you, but you will find out that the majority of us are Joey huggers! Hang in there! We know you can do it!
--Bill Pangborn - GREENVILLE, MI
A) No one wants to win more than me. I have not lost before coming to the NFL and these past few years have been especially frustrating for me, as well as the fans. I know some fans can be fickle and booing is a reflection of their frustration. We are a better football team now and I know we are about to turn the corner on winning seasons. Thanks for the kind words.
Q) Joey,
I just want you to know that your story is appreciated by at least one more person. Put in a tough position from the start, you have fought all the way, and I can't wait to see what an awesome player you become despite it all. Sorry about sending this letter here, I didn't know where else to go. Although I can't watch you play in person or even on TV where I'm at, my master sergeant is a cheese head with direct tv, and he is going to record the Lion's road to the Super Bowl on his VCR for me. Maybe when my contract expires I can meet you as a 23-year old undrafted free agent:)
--Matthew Rainey - Yuma, AZ
A) My job can't be as tough as yours and I respect what you do. It sounds like we both share a commitment to a common cause - the Lions. Hope you get a chance to follow us on the delayed recordings. Thanks for the encouragment. I will look for you in a spring training camp in a few years.
Q) Joey, I've noticed that you do a lot of charities for children. Did you ever thinking a doing a charity to benefit cancer patients in Michigan or Oregon? I have been a Lions fan my whole life, and a fan of yours since your rookie year. Good Luck this year.
Chrissy Sylvester, Jackson, MI

A) In Portland I have worked this summer with the Shriner's Hospital for Children and Providence Hospital. This was my third summer concert benefiting the Shriner's Hospital and we raised $45,000 for their sports and recreation and assistive technology programs. Providence Hospital is in the process of building a new cancer center and expanded facilities for their medically fragile children. I served as the honorary chair for this summer's NBA/NFL Charity Golf Challenge and Auction. We raised over $300,000. It was a really satisfying experience working with both hospitals. In Michigan I am trying to do something with Childrens' Hospital but we haven't been able to work out details yet. Right now I am trying to focus on the health issues of young people which certainly could include cancer patients.
