Q) Hi Joey! I feel silly writing you as we are peers and somewhat rivals (I went to USC and watched you slaughter us while you were at Oregon, but how the tables have turned now!). But I must admit that I am a HUGE fan of yours since the time I bumped into you during a PAC-10 media day conference several years ago. Anyway, I guess I really didn't become a fan of yours until I found that you were a classical/jazz pianist (as I am violinist of 20 years myself). With the craziness and anticipation of the start of a new season and on a new team, when do you or WILL you ever find time to play? Best of Luck to you this season - sounds like you are in a happier place!

A) It seems like a long time ago that I was at the PAC-10 media day. Those were good years when we were beating USC. It's been a couple of tough years for the Ducks with USC recently but I anticipate a turn around real quickly beginning this season. It's tough to play a lot during the season. Most of my piano playing is for my own enjoyment at home at night or any time I need to relax. Once in awhile I will play informally in public but it's really tough during the season. Thanks.
Q) Hi Joey, Just wanted to let you know you are the reason I began watching football and enjoy the sport today. My husband would watch football every Sunday, and I of course would be a little put off....that is until I took a minute to watch part of a Lions game 2 seasons ago....saw you on the field and I was hooked. Last season I even began watching college football..my husband is loving it..So Thank you! I will miss not seeing you on the Lions, and wish you all the luck in Miami..you deserve the best! A) Thanks for the support. I appreciate the fans like you that I left behind in Detroit.
Q) Joey, I’m writing from Afghanistan, I was originally supposed to be in Iraq, but only spent a month there. Looks like I’m going to be deployed longer than expected. I was hoping to be home for the playoff, now we’re looking at late January. I wrote once before, asking you to make it to the playoffs so I could watch when I get home. Now I have to ask you to get all the way to Super bowl XI. I know that’s your ultimate goal; however I feel it doesn’t hurt to ask. I did see clips of your game today; you look good in Miami colors, who’d a thought? I can’t wait to get one of my own; I’ll have to stop in Portland on my way home. Good luck next week, and all season. SSgt Sam Lewis FOB Sharona Afghanistan

A) Sam, Thanks for writing. Sorry but I have been behind in responding to people since we have been in camp for a couple of weeks and there isn't much free time. It's hot in Miami but I think you probably have it even hotter over there. I appreciate what you and your fellow service men and women are doing for us. I am as excited to get into the playoffs this season as you are to see us there. I think the Dolphins will have a good chance this year and I would be thrilled after four years of going home early. The Miami colors are growing on me. I got to keep #3 which I have worn since high school and a lot of my friends say they like the Dolphin uniforms. They will be available on this website soon. Stay safe. Joey
Q) Hey Joeyyyyy. Im totally following you into Miami. Is there gonna be a Miami jersey made with your name on it? Anyway I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a good record now that you left the good ol Lions.

--Mike Polisena - Warren, MI
A) We should have jerseys on the website soon. They will also be in the U of O Duck shops back in Portland and Eugene by late August. I like the jersey personally. Thanks for checking.
Q) Pal Joey, I don't have a question, I just wanted to let you know that although I grew up in Southern Cal, I couldn't help but root for a fellow Harrington while you were at the U of O (I'm a Pac-10 fan and enjoy rooting for any Pac-10 team, especially when they play teams from the south or east coast). I've bought your jerseys and given them out to family members as gifts, and intend to continue doing so. I admit I just discovered this website and apologize for not acting sooner. I think what you're doing is great and I wish you continued success in all your endeavors. You're a top notch QB and I know the best is yet to come for you in the NFL. Good luck in Miami. A) I had to respond to a name like yours (and mine). I am in the middle of camp right now and don't get much time to respond to people. Thanks for writing in. I suspect there might be a connection somewhere with us since I come from a really large family. I am looking forward to a good year in Miami and hope the Ducks can get back to beating up on the California schools of the PAC-10 again.
Q) Hey, Joey! I don't really have a question for you, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck in Miami and throughout the rest of your career. I was pretty disappointed when I heard you were gone and now can look forward to trying for Thanksgiving tickets to welcome you back to Ford Field. The day I found out you were released, I told all the guys at work I was gonna follow and I hope you go somewhere warm. Well half of that happened, but I'm still in MI. Well take care and, again, best of luck for success in the future.

A) I am looking forward to a new start in Miami and so far it's been what I was hoping for. We have a great coaching staff and a team on the rise. Hopefully, we are playing well when we come back to Detroit at Thanksgiving. Thanks for your support.
Q) Hey Joey, I think I am (or my Dad) your biggest fan I just wanted to send my best to you in FL. I was born in Eugene OR. in 1998 and my parents were U of O season ticket holders for 8 years. We now live in AZ and have followed your career, and we go to the DUCK games when they come to Tempe or Tucson. My daddy says your the best role model a kid could have because your honest and you give 100% in everything you do. I have your picture in my room, you as a DUCK, LION and now DOLPHIN. I even have your jersey's (Duck and Lion, I don't have a Dolphin yet) I play Mitey Mite Pop Warner football for the Rattlers and my # is 3, as a running back and wide reciever. Joey your are the best, good luck !!! Joey Anastasio Phoenix AZ Duckfan3@qwest.net

A) Thanks for the email, Joey. Those were some nice thoughts which I appreciate. It's funny how many Duck fans I seem to run nto all over the country. I like your name and your number. Best of luck this fall playing Mighty Mite football. I remember those years as some of my best years for having fun. Make sure you do too. Keep your eye on this website. We will have some Dolphin gear soon.
Q) Joey, You have that "something" that a Quarterback needs to lead his team to the winning score when the game is on the line. I saw you do it at Oregon time and time again. In Detroit you had a lot of things working against you, but now with a new start in a much better situation I am absolutely certain that your amazing "in the clutch" leadership will shine through again. It's all about confidence and good character...and you have plenty of both. Good luck in Miami. Jeff :) Albany, Oregon

--Jeff McMahon - Albany, OR
A) Thanks for the note. I am really looking forward to a new start in Miami. The coaching staff is great and I think this team has a lot of promise to get deep into the playoffs. Whatever happens, I will be ready to contribute however I am needed.
Q) Hi Joey! I hope you have been having a fun and relaxing time-off before training camp starts in late July. My question--are you ever going to talk to your fans again? Just teasing--but we do miss your posts! We are going forward to seeing you in a Dolphin jersey this year. Best of luck with the season! ~~Kathy Strombeck Salem, Oregon

A) I have been away from the website for the summer but I am leaving this week for Miami to start camp. Looking forward to a new start with a team that has a lot of promise for this season and hope I can be a positive contributor. More later on how things are going. Thanks.
Q) Hello Joey, As a QB coming to a new team, do you spend specific time with the coaching staff (and other QB's) in the off-season to prep you, or are you there with the whole team during normal workouts and practices? And just a comment: My wife and I love sports and music and have two kids that enjoy both as well. It's important to us to work with them as much on sportsmanship and enjoying sports, (or music) as we do helping them practice whatever techniques. Parents are the first and best role models, but we can proudly point to you as an example of how to handle yourself. You're an example of what a person with a great attitude, talent and work ethic can do. The fact that you're a Duck is icing on the cake. Count us as Dolphin fans and make sure you keep #3! We'll be tuned in on Sundays and watching for your jersey on this website. Best Regards - The Reed Family. Jason, Brandi, Abby and Ryan. Portland, OR.

A) This year was a bit different since I really didn't know when I would be released or traded from the Lions. It happened on a Friday and Sunday morning I was on a plane for Miami to practice on Monday morning. We have just finished two weeks of team work outs with a week off now. Monday we get back to work. It's a lot of work on my part trying to learn a new offense on the run but it's getting easier after a few weeks. The coaches have been great. We should have some Dolphins jerseys on the website this summer. Thanks.
