Q) Did you have a chance to read the Detroit papers about your reception and performance? Not surprisingly, the writers talked about what we Oregonians already know -- what a class act you are. To quote one writer: "But given every opportunity to blast away at the team he led for four seasons, Harrington politely declined." It's been so great to watch you at Miami. You are finally having some fun. And I'm finally getting my money's worth for my NFL Sunday Ticket subscription!! Keep up the good work. Jan Davies, Salem, OR

A) I would say that most Oregonians are a bit biased but it's nice of you to send your thoughts along anyway.
Q) Joey, Thanks for being a first class man and not allowing yourself to take the bait and verbally bashing your former teamamtes. Your play on Thursday said it all. Take care and good luck.

--John Figurski - Washington, MI
A) A good win was enough. Thanks for the email.
Q) Nice job against the Lions, Joey. I was pulling for you. And I apologize for the bush league actions of some of my fellow Detroit fans and stadium personnel. You deserve all the success that comes from your hard work and positive attitude. It’s too bad those attributes weren’t appreciated in Detroit. Have a great career in Miami. By the way, was the water cold?

A) I didn't notice the Piano Man music played when we ran on the field but a teammate pointed it out to me on the sideline later. I figured there would be some type of personal introduction so the crowd could boo me and certainly I expected to be booed during the game. We had practiced a silent count for the line of scrimmage anticipating that this would happen. Funny but it wasn't long before the boos went away and my linemen said they had no problem hearing me. That was satisfying to take the crowd out of the game. Actually, there were a lot of Lions fans who had contacted me on this website with encouragement before the game and I continue to be grateful for so many who have been supportive before and after the game. Thanks.
Q) Hi Joey, Congratulations for your success on Sunday against the Lions. I have been a Lion fan for 50+ years and that was the first time I wanted them to lose! I want to apologize to you for the behavior of some "fans". I hope you realize, they are a very small majority. There are many people here that recognized your potential, and wish you could have stayed here. I am extremely happy for your winning streak, and pray it continues. Good luck in the future!! Debra Martin Otsego, Mi

A) Thanks Debra. I know there are a lot of people who were supportive of me and want the best for the Lions as well. I also know that the response of many fans is based on years of losing and disappointment. I wish it had worked out for me in Detroit but there is just too much that needs to be changed before things turn around. As an aside, I really do admire Coach Marinelli and I think he is the right man for the job. I think we would have worked well if I had a chance to work with him earlier.
Q) Joey, Again not a question, but as a native Detroiter and lifelong Lions fan, I just wanted to tell you I continue to be impressed by your professionalism and class. I enjoyed the opportunity to watch you perform as a Lion, and was frankly embarrassed by the crowd reaction on Thursday. Every franchise should have players who work hard, put in maximum effort, and demonstrate strong character in and out of the locker room. Congratulations on your win, the player of the game, and wishing you continued success in Miami.

A) Thanks so much.
Q) Hi Joey- A long-time Miami Dolphins here that never really knew anything about you except what I heard on talk-radio and other sports shows when you were with Detroit. I have since read the stories of your stay in Detroit and the way you handled the situations and can honestly say that I am now a huge Joey Harrington fan, and have the upmost respect for you. The way you handled Thursday's win with respect for Detroit was all about class and integrity - something I wish I saw more of in pro athletes. I am glad that you are now on a team that IS a team. Dolphin fans (and I'll speak for myself here) tend to hold QB's to a very high standard. I know I compare everyone to Dan Marino. But as I get older I realize it's not all about yardage and completions and touchdown passes. It's also about being a great leader and example on and off the field. I'm no longer waiting for the next Dan Marino. Thanks, Joey!! Greg Nichols, Illinois

A) Thanks for the email Greg. My website has been flooded with well wishes these past few days. There are far too many to respond to each one. I am doing my best to write back to as many as I can since I have a few days off before we go back to work. I truly appreciate everyone who has taken the time to write in to the website.
Q) Joey, I am sure a lot of people are writing to you and telling you that you had a great game against the Lions and that you are doing a great job as the Dolphins quarterback. You definately are, but I admire the fact that you have been gracious toward the Lions, their fans, their management and the coaches that you had. A great many people would bash their previous employer at any given opportunity. You have not done that and I really am glad that you are who you are. From one fellow Oregonian to another, I look forward to seeing you in the Super Bowl so that the rest of the country can find out what a great person and QB you are.

--Matthew Randquist - Colorado Springs, AK
A) That's nice of you to say. I just enjoyed the win so much I decided there was no reason to get into making comments about the Lions and what is in the past. If you watched the game you saw why I am so happy to be a part of the Dolphin organization.
Q) Hey Joey just wanted to congratulation on your win against the Lions. My dad and I always enjoy watching you play and had the best time watching you win and starting to shine as a qb.Good Luck with the rest of this season. GO FINS AND #3.

--Kayla McKee - Bend, OR
A) Thanks a lot. Nice to hear from a beautiful part of Oregon.
Q) Joey, Congratulations on defeating Detroit on Thanksgiving. You made me an Oregon Duck fan and I've been rooting you on throughout your NFL career. You make watching football fun because of the passion you share with the team. You celebrate your team's success. I hated how Detroit treated you. I'm glad you were able to get out of that cold city. How did it feel to play such an amazing game against your old team?

--Glenn Hanna - Eugene, OR
A) Becoming a Dolphin this year has helped me regain the passion and enthusiasm I had for the great game of football. I had a great time yesterday. It was like being back in Autzen stadium. Well maybe not in regard to the crowd but the fun of playing with teammates who enjoy playing together. Thanks.
Q) Hey Joey -- I just wanted to thank you for being the gentleman you always have been. I just returned from the Thanksgiving Day Game - Lions vs. Miami -- Our group cheered you on!! And we are so sorry for the rude Detroit fans who were booing -- They just never seem to grow up or get any class!! You've always been gracious to everyone -- and you deserved much MUCH better than the Detroit Lions. And we're glad you got the heck out of there -- It's their loss!!! So - our best wishes to you in all your future endeavors!!! Nice game!!! Sincerely, Kris Spicer Saginaw, Michigan

--Kris Spicer - Saginaw, MI
A) Thanks for the support, Kris. It was sort of tough hearing your group over the boos at the beginning but that died down quick enough when we got it rolling. I am really enjoying where I am now in Miami. Detroit is in my past and there was no reason to get into saying something after the game that would make headlines.
