Q) You were great on Thanksgiving Day. I like the class you showed in your post-game interview. I was born and raised in Portland graduating from Grant High and the U. of Portland. I started to follow your career when you were drafted by the Lions. I follow Portland athletes. I became a fan of George Shaw (Grant, U. of Oregon) when he played for the Baltimore Colts and the Giants. I was a Dallas Cowboy fan when Mel Renfro (Jefferson, U. of Oregon) joined their team. Although we sometimes get overshadowed by California teams, we do pretty well. Do you have any memories of George Shaw and Mel Renfro? Lastly, did you have a chance to talk to John Kitna, Roy Williams and Rod Marinelli after the game? Go Dolphins! Gordon Johnston - Pittsburgh, PA

--Gordon Johnston - Pittsburgh, PA
A) I had a chance to meet George Shaw when I was really young. My dad knew him and introduced me. I see his picture hanging on the wall at Nick's Coney Island. I haven't had a chance to get to know Mel Renfro. I really didn't get a chance to talk to John Kitna after the game. There was too much confusion but usually I will always talk with the other team's QB. I was able to say hello briefly to Roy and wished there was more time. I have the greatest respect for him as a player. Coach Marinelli and I spoke briefly after the game and I told him I respect what he is attempting to do, that I think he is the right man for the job and wished him good luck.
Q) I have been a lifelong Dolphins fan, ever since I was a little kid I remember wearing Dolphins jerseys and screaming at the TV as I watched Dan play quarterback. I must say that your attitude and press conferences really make me smile. To hear a player say "I am so grateful to be a part of the Miami Dolphins organization," lets me know you have the same passion to make this team win as the diehard fans like myself have every week. You are a great competitor, and you have a great spirit. With the offensive weapons you have around a great talent like yourself, and the unbelievable play of the defense, I know this is a recipe for success. I believe that we have only begun to see what this team is capable. You should and WILL be our qb next year. You're a winner baby, and you're just what the Dolphins need. Keep the positive attitude man. Daniel Madow San Rafael, CA

A) I really do enjoy being a part of this team and organization. Thanks.
Q) Joey, Great win in Detroit! All of us Dolphin fans enjoyed that immensely, although I am certain you enjoyed it more. Glad to have you on board with the Dolphins! You appear to be getting more comfortable with every game. Best Wishes to You and Yours this Holiday Season and for your continued success. You deserve it.

--Mac Atha - Palm Bay, FL
A) I think we both enjoyed it. Thanks for the email.
Q) Joey, the reason for the few short lines is to say how much I respect and admire the work that the Harrington Family Foundation does and the great values that you and your family represent. You represent everything that is good with our American youth. As a United States Army Soldier who has been in some tight spots; I would like to commend you for staying motivated during trying times and I wish you continued success both on and off the field. Go Dolphins!

--Camilo Medina - Miami, FL
A) More importantly, I appreciate all that you are doing for all of us as Americans. What we might call hard work or sacrifice to improve as athletes in the NFL is nothing compared to your sacrifice. All the best and stay safe.
Q) Hey Joey great job against the Lions. Once again you showed what great class you have. A lesser person could have really rubbed the win in there face. The Lions should have never let you go but I am happy for you to be on a much better team.

--Steve Fish - Grand Blanc, MI
A) I was just happy for the win and didn't see any reason to go beyond that after the game. I let others make their own conclusions. Thanks.
Q) Hey Joey, how was the cobbler? Miami played really well on Thursday, nice to enjoy a Lions Thanksgiving day game for once. Best of luck against the Jaguars and Happy Holidays to you and your family.

--Brett Laidlaw - Vernon, CT
A) The cobbler was great - especially with the win on top.
Q) Great job yesterday. Once again you showed what a tremendous person you are on and off the field. As I told you in previous notes, Detroit did not appreciate the talent they had in you and put way too much pressure and expections on one person to turn the Lion's organization around. It takes an entire team to win or lose. Miami is a great organization and I can tell your coach appreciates you. Go Ducks! Rich Unrein, Beaverton OR

--Rich Unrein - Beaverton, OR
A) I really admire and like our coach, Nick Saban. He is demanding but wants the best for you. I appreciate his willingness to be straight forward and frank in dealing with the team. I play best in a situation where I know where I stand even if it's not what I want to hear. I haven't been in that situation for a few years and this is such a positive change.
Q) Joey, As a lifelong Lions fan, I say congratulations on your performance yesterday (Thanksgiving). However much a Lions fan that I am, I rooted against them yesterday. You are a class act and that is why I rooted for you. I would have loved to have seen you put up even more points against them. I wish you all the success that you very much deserve and for handling yourself with such class. You are a rare individual in today's sports. That speaks well of your parents and other family members. Michael

--Michael Brown - Lithia Springs, GA
A) Thanks Michael for the email. It was a lot of fun on Thursday and what was even better was being able to get on a plane and make it home to Oregon for Thanksgiving dinner with my family - about 30 of us. I owe a lot of my personal success to the love and support of my family.
Q) Comment Great game on Thanksgiving ! Your a class act and deserved that moment in your life.I'm happy for your success and wish you the best in yor teams playoff drive. Mike Voss GR MI

--mike voss - grand rapids, MI
A) It certainly was one of my memorable moments in my althletic career. After all the media hype I just wanted a win and to play well regardless of personal stats. It worked out pretty well for the Dolphins.
Q) Hi Joey, Congratulations on the win against Detroit and a great season so far! We will be rooting for you wherever you play. My two kids are still fans after meeting you at an Oregon game and it is great for them to have a role model like you. Thank you for being a good example and class person on and off the field for all the kids here still wearing #3 Joey jerseys!

--Kai Lindland - Eugene, OR
A) That's nice of you to say. It makes me feel good to know I might be a positive influence on a young person. After five years away it's always a bit funny and certainly flattering to know that people are still wearing my jersey.
