Q) HEY JOEY- JUST WANTED TO SAY YOU ARE TRULY AN INSPIRATION! IT IS MUCH HARDER TO WALK ON THE HIGHER ROAD-IT TAKES STRENGTH, CLASS, AND GUTS. THE MIAMI DOLPHINS ARE A TEAM AND CITY LUCKY TO HAVE YOU. I PLAN TO DONATE TO THE HARRINGTON FAMILY FOUNDATION FOR MANY YEARS TO COME- KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. THANKS AGAIN!
GENE W.
--GENE WILCOX - ST PETE BEACH, FL
A) Thanks very much for that support. Hopefully, I will be here for years to come and get more involved in the Miami community.
Q) You've provided our family with so much enjoyment, Joey, beginning with your leadership of the Oregon Ducks. I was reminded of those days, seeing you in top-notch form on Thanksgiving Day, and I felt that you have regained the confidence and poise under stress that you showed time and again in Autzen Stadium. My daughter graduated from Oregon in 1996, so we're all huge Ducks fans. I've enjoyed following your career and that of Luke Ridnour, and now I'm a dedicated Dolphins and Sonics fan!! I hope each year is better than the last for you. You have earned so much admiration for always taking the high road in interviews and on the field. Good for you!!!! Ruth Bailey, Lafayette, CA

A) There is no doubt that football is more fun now than anytime over the last four years. Last week I really felt comfortable and in charge of what was happening on the field. Probably a bit like Eugene, although the NFL is so much different than college football. Thanks for the note.
Q) Hey Joey. I know you get FLOODED with emails saying the same stuff but I still fill like I need to write you. I have written you a few times while you were in Detroit. I have been supporting you in all the forums and it is nice to be getting the last word on all of that now. I am so proud of you for how you kept your head up through it all, remained focused, continued to grow as a player and prove so many people wrong about you. I think I was more upset then you were when Mooch pulled you twice on Thanksgiving Day on national TV. YOU DID NOT DESERVE THAT! I was seriously sad for you! I was hoping to see you in Martz's system but I absolutely can not blame you for wanting out of Detroit. A lot of unikely factors had to fall into place for this to happen this Thanksgiving. Those factors fell into place and you were given an opportunity. You embrased that opportunity and proved to the world YOU WERE NOT THE PROBLEM IN DETROIT! This is the ONLY Detroit loss that I have EVER not been bitter about. I am very happy for you and your family who has supported you so well through your tough times. Lastly I gotta say... A 6th round pick?!!??!! Miami's front office just played the Detroit card the best they could to get the best deal they could... All business there... You are worth much more to Miami, I hope you know that. Though I also know it is not about that stuff to you. It is about being happy and being able to live the dream doing what you love. You are living it now buddy! You deserve it!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
--Matt Davis - Madison, AL
A) You are right. I have been flooded with well wishes and emails of congratulations. There's no way I can answer them all but I am trying to answer more than I have for a long time because we have off until Monday. I have been telling everybody who has written in on this topic that I am able to move on and the Detroit experience is well in the past. Last Thursday was a great experience both personally and professionally. Thanks.
Q) I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying watching you play this year. It is wonderful to see the Joey Harrington who gave all of us Duck fans so much pleasure. I was so proud of you on Thanksgiving when you and the whole team played so well. You certainly deserved the player of the game trophy and that cobbler looked wonderful. Also when given the opportunity to speak out about your treatment, you showed great class!!! I believe that letting your talent speak for you must have made an impression on everyone. I work with people who told me that they really never sit down and watch a whole game, who were glued to the tv during the game and how much they enjoyed watching. I wish you continued success with Miami. Good luck in all upcoming games.
--Joyce Clifford - Eugene, OR
A) Always good to hear from the Duck fans! Thursday was a lot of fun. Thanks for the support.
Q) This isn't a question, more I just wanted to tell you what a big fan I've been since you were drafted by the Lions in 2002. I went to the thanksgiving game just to cheer you on. My friend and I even got kicked out with six minutes left in the game cuz we got into it with some Lion/Dre Bly fans with our cheering. As a Detroit sports fan I feel ashamed the way the Lions fans booed you throughout your career and the bush league act by the Lions during the pregame introductions. I have such disdain for the Lions organization now, that I've pretty much adopted the Dolphins as my NFL team, you are truly a class act and hope you know there are fans here in Detroit that truly appreciate the effort you gave us during your time here and wish you nothing but the best as your career moves forward.

A) I appreciate your support but sorry you got kicked out of the game. The boos didn't bother me. It actually was sort of fun to hear them fade away as the game went on.
Q) Joey,
You continue to make Oregon proud. Thank you for showing all of us how to live life with some class.
Sincerely wishing you the best.

A) I appreciate your comment. Sometimes it's tough but I have found that in the end taking the high road is the best way to go. Go Ducks despite the weekend.
Q) Great game, since we don't have an NFL team here in Oregon, we tend to favor teams that have former Duck players, having been a season ticket holder for many years. I have to say, I prefer being a Dolphins fan rather then a Lions fan! What a great game to watch on Thanksgiving day. Congratulations on the win and especially for being such a gracious winner. (too bad it didn't carry over to the Civil War game!) We look forward to many more victories for the Dolphins with you leading the way.
--Sandy Hart - Glide, OR
A) I guess we will have to call it a split decision over the weekend with the Dolphins and the Ducks. That was really a tough loss for the UO. Thanks.
Q) Hey Joe! Hope your Turkey Day was great! Im very sure it was! I just had to write you and say how great it is for me being a big fan of yours! I loved seeing you topple the Lions! Yes, i am a huge Roy Williams fan, and i hope BMW pans out too! I just can`t take seeing what they have been doing. You were NOT EVER the problem here. Im so happy for you man! You gave up ALOT of MONEY to leave. I think that move is going to pay off bigtime for you! I wish you continued success! I wish you more happiness! It was honestly a great feeling for me to see you win 4 games in a row(yes, i have NFL ticket!)
Keep it up Joe!
There is alot of us here in the D that really wish you well!
I am one of them!!!

A) Thanks to you and all the supporters who have been writing in. My website is overflowing with emails!
Q) Hey Joey, that game you had was so great you played amazing. I could tell you were having fun again when I saw you at training camp over the summer. You are such an unbelievable quarterback and person as well. I don't know how you didn't bash your old team for what they did to you but with a class act like you it doesn't suprise me. It seems to me that you feel more comfortable in this offense than the west coast offense. Do you feel more comfortable? Again great game and us Joey fans wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season.

A) I am getting very comfortable in Miami and with our offense. There truly is a team feeling. As for me, I know exactly what my options are which is different from what I had experienced in the last few years.
Q) I looked forward to this Thanksgiving day game, because as a life-long Lions fan I'd be happy if they won, and as a JOEY HARRINGTON fan I'd be happy to see you put everyone in their place! I was apalled and embarressed when I later heard about the terrible treatment you received at the game!
I want you to know that my husband sent the following email to the Lion's organization. He and I have ALWAYS been impressed with your terrific attitude (as well as your terrific arm). It may have little impact, but it is important to me to let you and your family know, that MANY of us here in Michigan are both shamed and apologetic.
On their behalf: I am so, so sorry.
Marjy VerHulst

I write as a 15 year (or so) season ticket holder.
I was not at the Thanksgiving game as I spent it with my family. But...I am very upset at the treatment and opportunities for boo-ing presented at Ford Field on behalf of Joey Harrington. Taking the opportunity to multiple times heap it on him...showed a lack of class I am not expecting to see when I attend Ford Field.
His stay here was less than stellar, but especially considering the class he showed...and his continued choice to take the high road throughout... did not warrant such a response on OUR behalf.
This behavior has done much more to negatively impact my ticket status than the past several miserable seasons. I deal with negativity on a regular basis in my employment as a therapist...and I don't need to find it in my recreational activities. I have a sour taste in my mouth.

A) I really appreciate your thoughts but I want to tell you and the many fans who have been writing in on this topic that it's in my rear view mirror. Why certain things were done doesn't bother me at this point. I had a chance to redeem myself on the field with a team that I feel great about and what happened off the field is someone else's issue. But thank you for your support!
